Have you ever thought about how to learn to gain better grades at school? A new e-book is available at http://tiny.cc/pzeju that deals with the subject of holistic learning. Holistic learning is a process of learning ideas, theories and other course material in such a manner that requires less rote memorization and more implementation of mind application.

The natural way of learning things are to divide a process in smaller parts and to understand each part thoroughly and then to make interlinking between what you have learnt in parts. Learning is quite different than studying or memorizing things. When you learn something, it gets embedded in your mind to long last. You can recall and use the knowledge you learnt anytime and in any situation. On the other hand, when you study some topic to memorize it, you try to enforce it on your mind. Such memory doesn't last long and that is why many students suffer the situation of forgetfulness during the examination hours.

The general idea is to avoid rote memorization of things and to stress more on understanding the ideas behind a subject. Once you start understanding the basics of a subject, it becomes easy to memorize it within minutes. Thus, it is possible to learn more study less and gain better grades by adapting to the holistic manner of learning.

The very first requirement to learn and get better grades is to have proper learning strategies. You should try to create your interest in your subject course or study material. This is possible by trying to divide whole subject in smaller parts and try to understand each part thoroughly and clearly. When you will start, you may find it a little hard to change your manner of learning things. But gradually, you will find that your speed to understand and learn the various concepts, ideas and theories of your course subject is increasing.

There is an online course available to help you in excelling at your school studies with the help of proper holistic learning studies. The course is meant to make you understand the difference between learning and merely memorizing things without understanding them. The online course claims to increase the ability of your learning. The approach of the online course available at http://tiny.cc/pzeju is logical and it has full potential to help you to get better grades at school.
Do the classes offered at the study abroad site fit into your course of study?

The last thing you want is to be forced to graduate a semester late because your courses abroad don't fit into your planned curriculum. If you realize that your desired study abroad location doesn't offer the courses you need, or doesn't give enough credit for the courses it does offer, try sending some emails to your school to see if arrangements can be made.

2. The Language Barrier

Some people go abroad to further their knowledge of a language they're already studying. Others go to a country only knowing how to say "hello" and "goodbye." The decision depends upon what you are trying to gain from the experience. While it is fully possible to "survive" in many countries simply by using English, not speaking the language will make it much more difficult to absorb the many customs and nuances of another culture.

3. The Social Scene

What may be a familiar social custom back at home could vary greatly in another country. Before deciding on a study abroad location, do some research on the country's nightlife, gender dynamics, and laws such as the drinking age or smoking in bars. You may find that the city goes to sleep too early for your liking, or that the country doesn't offer any socially liberal options fitting your preferences. The social experience can make or break a study abroad trip, so it's important to do your research beforehand.

4. Food

While it may seem to some like a non-issue, the cuisine in your country of choice can have a serious impact on your enjoyment while abroad. If you've just spend a year keeping off – or working off – the "Freshman 15," the last thing you want is to gain it all back in a country whose eating habits don't quite encourage a healthy lifestyle. Also, many countries don't make it easy on vegetarians, vegans, people with food allergies, or those who eat Kosher. You can learn a lot about a culture through its food; you won't want to have to avoid the cuisine entirely because of dietary restrictions.

5. The Exchange Rate

Studying abroad can be an extremely expensive ordeal, and it's important to think in advance about the cost of living in your new, temporary home. If items such as toothpaste, soap, or even food cost twice as much as they do in your own country, can you see yourself paying these prices for several months? Your trip abroad shouldn't force you to have to take out a loan later on; there are certainly cheaper locations in which to study that will be just as fun and fulfilling.

Author: Lily Faden

Johnmansdahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05655100802290521660noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2828958643216626964.post-45548659727090109822010-09-06T23:39:00.004+07:002010-09-07T00:00:46.054+07:00Schools Need to Teach New Methods, Focus on Active Learning
Schools are renowned for training well-prepared students who excel in exams, to produce more self-motivated and critical thinkers. The curriculum has been cut, new teaching methods introduced and change are under way to fine-tune methods for assessing students and ranking schools. Teachers around the world are united in their goal to send students from cocooned classroom environments carrying with them the highest hopes of fulfilment in the outside world.

But how best to achieve that aim?

It is generally accepted that the higher the level qualification, the higher the likelihood of today's students becoming tomorrow's success stories. But to first progress to universities or college, and then flourish at tertiary level, high school students must steer-or be steered-through tough years of laying appropriate educational foundations.

For instance, in South Korea, active participation in lessons is a new experience for grade-nine students at Seoul muddle school. They are more used to being spoon-fed as they prepare top advance the following year into 36 months of high pressure learning for university.

In order to avoid the rote-learning path by leading students in new style English lessons where students given a scenario, then related assignments. The exercise was part of the new-style English lessons. The students are given a scenario at the beginning of the class. Liked the Sars situation and they take it from there, working on various assignments related to it that involve writing, oral presentations, research and constructing props. They came up with a rap, wrote a song to be dedicated on radio to the medical staff, and set up a websites , which allows students to pen their gratitude.

The active methods allows them to see how they can apply what they learn and cut across several subjects. In the thank-you assignment, they practized not only English, but also music, ICT, and art and craft. Students expanded their vocabulary and worked on sentence structure when they were forced to use standard English in their rap and song. They learnt music when they had to harmonize the song they composed. Students also drew colorful charts, so their classmates could follow the lyrics as they sang. When they had the task of setting up a tour agency, they learnt the basics of starting a business and some of the problems businessmen face, such as how to attract customers when your business is hit by heavy storms.

Previously, each class was divided into groups, and each worked on one aspect of a project , like the research, writing and presentation. The old methods was subject-based and done in isolation. The Storyline method, on the other hand, integrates what they have to cover with several activities, making it more enjoyable and fun. The best thing about storyline is that the children don't realize they're actually doing real work like comprehension because it's all built in. So they look forward to it and ask when the next topic is coming along when it ends.

Author: YOKE FONG
To observe good practice, exchange ideas and sharing knowledge.

Johnmansdahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05655100802290521660noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2828958643216626964.post-31207500355786398912010-09-06T02:00:00.002+07:002010-09-06T02:04:29.647+07:00High School Scholarship – Find The Suitable One
If you are a parent and you find that due to financial crisis you are unable to pay the school fees or meet educational expenses of your child's high school, opt for high school scholarship. You must keep in mind that scholarships are out there for all types of students and your child will also be eligible and fulfill the requirements for one or the other scholarship program. If you wish to send him to college you will find that college expenses are extremely high and unaffordable for average earning parents. In fact, scholarships are the best way of funding for your child's higher education.

However, you have to be prepared for the long and time taking search process. It is a simple logic here. Since you need free financial aid and at the same time you want your child to win the award money too, you will have to invest more than enough time to find the most suitable scholarship programs. Make sure the scholarship money is sufficient to fulfill your child's needs and your child abilities match with the requirements set for that scholarship program.

Most often parents do not know how to begin the search for suitable high school scholarship for their child. The first and the best place to start with is the financial aid office of the college in which your child is expecting to attend. Do not approach only one college, you must have at least three levels of preferences so that if by any reasons your child is not accepted in one college, he will be able to get admission in the college of second or third preferences. The guidance counselor might turn out to be extremely helpful here.

Take help from Internet where you will find widest variety of options available. Free scholarship search engines are also there for your assistance. Search through the site and find a scholarship that suits your child. If children of any of your friend or colleague had received the scholarship, ask them about the high school scholarship and get an idea about how to apply for it successfully.

Author: Carl Evangelista

Johnmansdahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05655100802290521660noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2828958643216626964.post-74351248087251999432010-07-19T22:19:00.003+07:002010-07-19T22:33:34.346+07:0010 Ways to Think Better
1. Expose yourself to multiple experiences
Creativity often boils down to the ability to adapt solutions from one aspect of life to another. However, you can try some other ways to make your PowerPoint presentation available on your students' computers. Here are some flexible ways for you to make your presentation available to more students such as converting your presentation to video, burning your PowerPoint presentation to DVD , and sharing your PowerPoint slideshow online. There are tons of YouTube-liked streaming video sites for video authoring and sharing. Scholarship database websites are very popular, convenient, and easy to use. The appeal comes from only having to type in your personal information once while getting in return many scholarships for which you can apply. However, as popular and efficient as these websites are, the fact is: they are not all-inclusive and do not include many of the scholarships you may find within your local community.

1. School's Career Counselor
If you don't look anywhere else, make sure you at least stop into your school's career counseling office. One of the services that this office provides is access to an updated list of local scholarships. As an organization, business, or individual creates a new scholarship, one of the first things it will do is forward the information to the career centers at the local schools. This information is ready and available to you. Go check it out.

2. Hometown Newspaper
In your local newspaper, you are sure to have seen pictures of students receiving scholarships; this a great resource. Start compiling a list of the awards you see here. Find back issues of the paper online. In the search box use the term "scholarship". You might just find the perfect scholarship for you.

3. Community Service Clubs Organizations
such as the local VFW, Rotary Club, Lion's Club, Jaycees, Boys and Girls Clubs, etc. regularly hold fundraisers for the purpose of providing scholarships to the students in their communities. A quick call to these clubs will get you information about these awards. Your local library or community center in town will have a list of these clubs for you to target. To make it even easier, in most cases the national chapter of each club has contact information for their local chapters online.

4. Religious Organization
A number of religious groups offer scholarship awards to the student members of their congregation. Ask your priest, rabbi, monk, pastor, etc. if an award is available. Also, check the national organization of the religious group as many offer national scholarships.

5. All in the Family
Parent's Workers Union, Place of Work, or Military Service If your parents or even grandparents (don't forget about them) are members of a union, you may be in luck. Many unions provide scholarships. If your parents aren't members but you plan to enter a field with a union, you may also qualify. As an employee benefit, many employers offer scholarships to their employees and their families. Have your parents check with the human resources department where they work to see if there is an award waiting for you. Did your parents or grandparents serve in the U.S. Military? If so, you might be in luck. If they belong to a military association, see if that group gives away scholarship awards.

6. Your Place of Work
Just as your parents' employers may give out scholarships, so might your own. Check with your manager even if you only work part time. You might be surprised at what you find.

7. Extracurricular Activities
Being involved in extracurricular activities is not only fun but looks great on your college application. But did you also know that through your club you may be able to get a scholarship? Ask your club advisor and check the national office of the club to see if there is anything available through them. Some of the clubs that do have awards are Girl Scouts, The National Honor Society, Future Farmers of America, Junior Achievement, and even your fraternity or sorority.

These offline scholarships do take a bit more work and time to find but the payoff can be huge. While the internet is still a very helpful reference, make sure you don't make it your only one. Log off your computer and head on out the door. You may just come home with a handful of applications for scholarships you didn't even know existed.

by: Elizabeth Dennis
About the Author:
To learn more about finding scholarships and view a new scholarship listing every day, come visit The Scholarship Catalog.

Johnmansdahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05655100802290521660noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2828958643216626964.post-74735893482964258862010-03-15T12:01:00.002+07:002010-03-15T12:10:35.614+07:00Educational Tools For 2010
Interactive educational tools are revolutionising teaching in classrooms across the country. With interactive whiteboards encouraging pupil participation and granting teachers access to a wider range of educational resources than ever before, whiteboards are looking to be the most important educational tool for 2010 - and teachers can combine their whiteboards with interactive tools to improve their user experience and make sure pupils are getting the most out of the technology.

Without the proper tools to unlock its full potential, an interactive whiteboard is just a chalkboard. Interactive whiteboard tools work together to improve usability for teachers and pupils alike - from pens that allow multiple users to interact with the whiteboard simultaneously to remote tablets and slates, allowing pupils to influence the board from their desks.

By providing pupils with their own tablets, many of which can be operated at the same time, teachers can also encourage their independent learning and critical thinking, as well as get them accustomed to the technology at an early age.

Teachers retain ultimate control of all these educational tools however, and by encouraging class participation they are helping children to get more out of their education through the sort of technology they are used to in the modern world, like remote controls. Remote controlled whiteboards give teachers even more freedom in interacting with pupils all over the classroom, while still retaining control of what is displayed on the board.

This also means that whiteboards do not need to be cluttered with distracting toolbars and other input features, ensuring that the focus is entirely on the learning resources being displayed rather than the technology itself.

Interactive teaching tools make it easier than ever for teachers to plan and modify lessons on the go, with many downloadable teaching aids and core resources being easily accessible over the web from various sites. Portable tablets liberate teachers from the classroom by allowing them to work with the interactive content wherever they are.

Schools can even equip classrooms with interactive tools designed for specific subjects, such as chemistry. The days of awkward cell diagrams are over, now that interactive microscopes can be linked directly to the whiteboard to present live magnified views for the whole class to experience on the big screen.

By offering a simple and effective way to interact with a huge range of learning resources, <a href="http://www.prometheanworld.com/server.php?show=nav.18"target="_blank">interactive whiteboard tools are the key educational tools for 2010.

<span style="color: rgb(51, 102, 102); Since most students will engage in part-time employment to support themselves financially through their student life, the idea seemed quite genius to allow lecturers to keep in contact with students who have such a busy life.

There are a couple of universities that have actually trialled the use of such technology and have found them to be a learning and motivational tool both for students and lectures. For example, the University of Central Lancashire in Preston developed and offered their students a free iPhone application that allowed students to be fully capable of exploring the university campus and local amenities. The application had various services stored on it such as university and campus maps as well as information on local entertainment centres, restaurants and transport links.

Also, when you get students coming from different parts of the world you find that you get stopped quite a lot for directions. This new application meant that students no longer had to stop lecturers or senior students for directions in and around the university campus.

Abilene Christian University based in Texas completed its first year of running a pilot program where they gave 1000 freshman students the opportunity to select an iPhone or iPod Touch phone and use it for free for the duration of the study. This was seemingly one innovative way of stopping students from being distracted by their mobile phones during lecturers and classroom learning sessions as it allowed the integration of the institutions curriculum into the application so that students could leverage the use of their gadgets as part of their education.

With the immense developments in technology and social media connectivity it was quite enjoyable and invigorating to see how such technology could revolutionise the learning experience using digital interactivity.

About the author:
<a href="http://www.protocol-education.com/"target="_blank">Phil Adams-Wright, digital learning is just one of many topics that Phil writes about. alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5412551893305857282" border="0" />The internet, fast broadband and interactive technologies have revolutionized communications. The impact has been huge and education is one area that has reaped the benefits. On the one hand, students and learners of all ages have new access to knowledge in a wide variety of subjects and skills. On the other, the growth of online tutoring jobs has provided earning, as well as learning, opportunities for tens of thousands of online tutors.

Online tutoring is attractive because of the flexibility it offers tutors. Online tutors can effectively write their own <a href="http://job-international.blogspot.com/"target="_blank">job description. Online tutoring jobs offer the scope for people with the skills and the dedication to help learners to create a rewarding career for themselves or simply to pass on their knowledge and passion for their subject. It’s an industry with almost as many niches as there are people to occupy them. Here are some of the ways that online tutors shape online tutoring jobs for themselves.

Career Tutoring Jobs

For people unwilling or unable to take up conventional teaching jobs, online tutoring can become a fully-fledged, full-time career. That career can be carved out according to the online tutor’s preferences: the tutor can specify his or her own hours and specialize in the subject and/or skills areas they most enjoy and are themselves most skilled in.

Of course, unlike conventional jobs, the onus is on the self-employed online tutor to build up a client base. For those who wish to take on online tutoring jobs as a career, versatility will obviously be helpful. The ability to teach more than one subject will help; so will the ability to teach all ages and to adapt the tutoring services offered to learner’s needs. That might include simple homework help and supervision at one end of the spectrum and intensive coaching for SATs or GREs at the other.

Specialty tutoring jobs

It is also possible to build one’s career as an online tutor around a specialty. That could be a subject specialty, such as math, economics, or language tutoring online. Or it could be skills-oriented. Remedial help for students with learning difficulties is one area that offers opportunities for specialty tutoring online. Some online tutors with the requisite skills may choose to specialise in test prep, either in general, or to prepare students for specific tests.

Part-time online tutoring jobs

The flexibility that comes with online tutoring makes it ideal for people who only have a few hours a week to spare, but plenty to share. Although specialized tutoring jobs and tutoring for college graduates may require extensive qualifications and experience, online tutoring as a part-time option is taken up by many starting out in a career in education. Some online tutoring options certainly require educational experience but homework help and supervision may require an online tutor who (as well as subject competency) has the personality and attitude to help inspire young learners and keep them on the educational path.

Online Tutoring in non-academic subjects and leisure areas

Some online tutors take tutoring jobs primarily because they have a passion for their subject and want to promote it by helping others. Whatever your passion, you will find that there’s someone out there who shares that love of a subject or pastime. Online tutoring is a way to indulge your passion, popularise it and assist others all at the same time.

The principal attributes that good online tutors possess include a love of the subject, detailed knowledge and the people skills to pass it on. For people with those attributes and qualities, online tutoring can be a rewarding and enjoyable career, full- or part-time.

Tutoring Services LLC publishes articles & videos of online tutoring, online learning to help the students of schools, colleges & universities to find a tutor, also provide help on online tutoring jobs for tutors to find resources online & offline.

More information visit:

<a href="http://www.tutoringservices.com/"target="_blank">www.tutoringservices.com
Johnmansdahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05655100802290521660noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2828958643216626964.post-51397226499806158562009-12-05T00:42:00.003+07:002009-12-05T00:51:32.127+07:00The Importance of Campus Life For College Students
College is a time for leaving the comfort and security of home and embarking on the journey to adulthood. Many universities and colleges require a student to live on campus at least during their freshman year. This is very beneficial to students as they will learn about campus life and the many benefits that come with living on campus.

Living on campus allows one to meet and interact with a wide variety of people. People from all over the world will attend a quality college and university so you will be exposed to new cultures and learn so much from them. As well, you will make long lasting friends and have support during times when you may feel home sick. Living on campus helps ease any anxieties associated with the transition from home to college. Not only does living on campus give you easy and quick access to classes, but you will also be able to interact with people living in your dorm and take part in the social gatherings and parties.

Living on campus will give you the ability to take part in many clubs and organizations. This can include organizations that focus on education, cultural diversity, gender issues, recreational activities, spiritual activities, political clubs, sports activities, and much more. Colleges and Universities also have various extra curricular activities such as working at the college newspaper, radio station, and more. The convenience of living on campus makes it more likely that you will participate in clubs and other organizations. As well, the convenience allows you to attend other facilities such as night time labs, night time classes, the library, and the fitness centre. The fitness centre is a great way to exercise, participate in recreational sports activities, and even take a swim. Most colleges also have various college sports team that one can try out for. It is also helpful to be near the college health centre, dining halls, and student information resources.

If you are attending college on a tight budget, you will most likely want a part time job to ease your daily living expenses. Living on campus makes access to an on campus job much easier as you will be only minutes away from your job. You do not have to worry about driving to a job and days when there is bad weather. You will make that extra bit of cash while meeting and interacting new people.

Recent studies have shown that students living on campus are more likely to complete their education program. The reason for this is that students living on campus feel more connected to the college and the people. They tend to invest more time in their classroom studies as well as campus life. There may seem to be a lot of benefits to living off campus when attending college, however, if you live on campus you will be exposed to new experiences and people which will make college life more fun and rewarding.
